Hi Everyone
« on: February 03, 2012, 07:20:29 PM »
Hi Everyone! It has been a long time since I have posted. I have had a lot of computer issues; now have a new one. I also am happy to say i have been working (3 part time jobs)..playing housewife, mom, grandma, etc. I have to say I feel like I am in my 20s again..lots and lots of energy. For those who do not know me, I was diagnosed in late 2005 in my late 40's. I had had the virus for probably about 27 years. I was a genotype 1A about 13 million viral count. I went through treatment for about thirty weeks and they took me off the treatment early because I responded to undetectable very early in treatment. The other reason they removed me was because I lost a lot of weight on the treatment and was very anemic. The virus came back quickly and i was back on the treatment in four months. That second go round of 48 weeks did the trick..four years undectable. Was it hard? Definitely! Was it worth it? You bet it was. I did it and so can you. Never ever give up!
Diagnosed in 2005. Thirty weeks of treatment in 2006 and 48 weeks of treatment in 2007. Undetectable!

Oh my friend Lynn it's so good to hear from you.

Let me add a little more about Lynn for all of you. Lynn is one of my many magical fairies that came to my aid when I went through the tx from way down yonder where the  lives. No matter what she called me several times a week and kept me going from the very beginning to the end. As all of you newer folks are finding out, there are guardian angels on this forum that are reaching out and you will never forget. Lynn is mine.

That's great to hear Lynn!
I am new to the forum, but not to the HVC.  The best guess is that I contracted this from a blood transfusion in 1980. I was diagnosed and I had treatment in the early 2000's for 11 months which did not work.  I just started the new treatment with Incivik and I'm only in my second week...you have given me hope that it WILL work this time!  Thank you.  The only problems I have so far are (a burning butt) which I am somewhat controlling with wipes and jelly's, and a skin rash similar to a prickly heat mostly on my ankles and lower legs area.  I've been using moisturizing creams, hydroquartizone cream and anything I can to stop the itching.  So far its not anything I can't handle, but I hope it don't get much worse because I work two jobs and can't afford to quit either of them right now.  I'm not any more fatiqued than I have been but I really look forward to gaining some energy when this is all over.  Sorry that I have rambled on here (not sure that this was the proper place)  Again, congratulations on your success in beating the demon and thanks for listening!!

Well hello Lynn-
Count me in as someone you helped

So glad everything is going so well - well, methinks you lost your mind after tx - three part-time jobs

Even though I relapsed, I had more energy afterwards. Still do. Thanks so much for posting.  I have to retreat and of course you know I'm scared!

Yikes! Did 24 wk clinical trial with Lambda Interferon. UND at week 12 & 24. Relapsed after one month. No VL test at weeks 4 & 8. I would get myself tested at week 4 and 8 next time I treat if the doc doesn't order it.

Lynn!  There you are!  I've been wondering why we haven't heard from you and I'm glad you posted.  If your story doesn't give everybody hope I don't know what would!  I'm thrilled to hear you're feeling good with lots of energy, and a grandma to boot!  Good for you Lynn, now don't stay away so long!

Tri22..They are pretty sure I also contracted the virus through blood transfusions (I had about 10 in 1978). You can beat this!!
Diagnosed in 2005. Thirty weeks of treatment in 2006 and 48 weeks of treatment in 2007. Undetectable!

Tri22,

It will.  Many of us have treated numerous times.  Me, 3 and the last one with telaprevir and I am now 2+ years SVR.
