Question about 6 month results
« on: February 01, 2012, 08:09:19 PM »
Hello All,

I posted this question for Hygiea, but wanted to see if anyone had any insight into how to read these test results.  I have been undectible since week four, and just finished the end of my treatment at six months.  I got my latest lab results today, and the doctor seemed confused reading the results.  He later said I was still undectilble, but I am nervous, does anyone understant the results below?

I have been undetectable since week 4.  I just received my six month blood work results today, and they were performed by a different lab.  The doctor had difficulty reading the results, but said I am still undetectable.  I just wanted your opinion on the results below. Am I  still undetectable, i am nervous? Hopefully you can tell something by this, it is hard to decipher the results I have. I think it reads it was unable to calculate a non-numeric result, which means I am less than 2 IU/ml which is undectible.  Is this correct?  Thanks for your help!

Type of test: Hep C Quant, PCR, NGI Quantasure

test results:

the notes read as follows:
unable to calculate result since non - numeric result obtained for componet test.

HCV QUANT (IU/ml)        less than 2 IU/ml
HCV IU log10                     UPTCAL

Note:

PCR Amplification + Detection   SPRRCS

Note:
Performed
PCR assay performed  using National Genetic Institue's validated, proprietary methodology.  Results greater than or equal to 5 copies/ ml of HCV RNA indicate the presence of virus- specific nucleic acid sequence.

looks like und to me.

if you are 6 months post treatment,  you would not be <2 and be detectable.  the virus grows way to quickly for that.

I read your post as saying this is blood work from the end of six months of tx, right? Not 6 months after tx ended.

Looks to me like you are UND. Very nice!

CORRECT AT THE END OF 6 MONTHS OF TREATMENT, NOT 6 MONTHS AFTER TREATMENT HAS ENDED.

THANKS, FOR THE HELP THAT IS GREAT NEWS!  I WAS JUST A LITTLE CONFUSED BY THE TEST RESULTS, NOT READING UNDECTABLE, BUT LESS THAN 2IU/ML
