Hi Malbert

I have came across some GT3 do relapse, some due to advanced fibrosis or co-exist with other conditions.  Would you mind telling us the stage of your liver and how long been diagnosed?
Did doc suggest tx with combo drugs?
Meanwhile, stay positive as we are all here with you.

Dorelia, just in case you meant triple therapy when you said combo drugs, there is no triple yet for genotype 2 or 3. The protease inhibitors are only allowed with geno 1.

There are some things in the pipeline, but nothing on the open market yet. They are still a couple of years away at best.

Thanks GR!

I did came across some other forum discussions that a fellow GT3a was put on triple therapy after being non-responsive to the traditional tx.
Is GT3 such a hard one with prevalence of relapse?  :surprised:
I'm waiting for the subsidy approval before I can start tx and now it looks like it may not be that sunny for me.

No it's not. It actually responds quite well to the standard of care meds, interferon & ribavirin.

As far as that person being put on triple, it might have been in a trial, but the meds have not been approved by the FDA for use in the US for anything other than genotype 1. Where does he/she live?

aw malbert-
That is tough - I know how you feel.

All of us will be done with this virus someday soon. there's a new drug that showed 100% for 2 & 3's and then finally for 1's.  Needs more testing and larger clinical trials, but we're getting there.

So sorry to hear-

Yikes! Did 24 wk clinical trial with Lambda Interferon. UND at week 12 & 24. Relapsed after one month. No VL test at weeks 4 & 8. I would get myself tested at week 4 and 8 next time I treat if the doc doesn't order it.
