Well for me I'm a recovering alcoholic been sober for a few years now :P. So even after I complete tx hopefully Successfully. I personally will not touch a ounce ever again. Cause all the pain and 3x treatments would suck 20 years from now to die from liver failure from alcohol damage and plus the irony of this that it end up killing me instead of the Hepc that was once in my system *if successfully cured this go around* just my personal ounce of opinion.

Well I miss having a glass of wine from time to time, as well as the custom brews in the northwest where I live. I was stage 3 before I started treatment and just finished 1 mth ago and still UND. I wont even think about having a drink until I have SVR and even after that, I think I want to give me liver more time to heal itself.

Glad you brought this up, Swish. Maybe it goes without saying that alcohol use after tx depends on whether you had a drinking problem before.

Hi,
I have been recently diagnosed with Hep C 1a.
Love my beer!
I have been brewing my own beer for over 25yrs. All natural and great tasting.
Now I have been diagnosed with Hep C and I have stopped drinking.
After completing treatment will I ever be able to drink again?
Jim

a fellow zymurgist!  Unfortunately, I have had to find other interests as my liver's seen better days and I think I've drank my share of beer (and then some ) so, SVR or not, alcohol is out for me. Can you lager. Jim? Maybe brew a nice hoppy IPA and tip one for me?

I have never been much of a drinker (an occasional glass of wine). However, I was told that if you have HCV and it is active then drinking could possibly be like adding gasoline to fire..So, I did not drink from the day I found out I had it to a couple years after finishing treatment and being SVR. Now, I will have an occasional drink but not on a regular basis.
Diagnosed in 2005. Thirty weeks of treatment in 2006 and 48 weeks of treatment in 2007. Undetectable!
