having to go through TX with out this computer on my lap,it blows me away the little things I kind of forget about, no one to chat to no post to read or do research on dragons I could not imagine, think I'm going to give mine an air brush and a big hug,and also a prayer to Steve jobs.
try not to focus on the bad but look for the little things.  mike.

Dear Ole...Back in the days before antibiotics (yes I am that old) I was ill in bed at the age of 11 for 3 months.   That was all they could do for you back then - tell you to stay in bed.   I was so bored.   I had a transistor radio that I kept trying to get things on but all I could hear was static and weather reports for boats in the North Sea.   Now I mostly stay in bed, but I can chat with friends on here.   Plus my hubby got me a Kindle Fire so I can watch all kinds of movies (some free) while lying down (sitting on the sofa is often too much for me).   Also, to know what is normal or abnormal - I would have lost what is sometimes referred to as the rest of my mind if it were not for this site and the support of my new friends.  Yes, technology is good.   Oh I do remember reading "A Town Called Alice" and asking my mother what the word "sonofabitch" meant only I pronounced it "sunaffabitch" :embarrassed:

Hey Ole - the farm sounds fascinating and I am sure you have many funny stories to tell.   A cow called Bess...that is what I wanted too only the name would be Buttercup!    I am sure you do get attached to those critters and congrats to you and your family on all the 4H awards.   Keep us posted on the impending birth.  It is amazing, don't you think, that all us diverse peoples, populations and professions can become 1 on here.   I am meeting some fascinating people.

Ole, that sounds so nice. We want to come visit!

If I had a cow I would name her Elsie. Grew up around animal husbandry, although my family didn't raise livestock but many neighbors did. As children we'd be sent with
the milk pail to the farmer up the street. The woman would strain the just milked milk into our pail through a sieve to catch any hair or flies and off we'd go. Once we had a taste of
commercial milk, we said the unpasteurized stuff was yucky cause it got a skin on top. And eggs fresh from the farm, nothing better! Fortunately, I have a connection for those still.

I remember this crazy turkey that was kept in a meadow us kids would sometimes cross if we had the guts. That thing seemed so scary.
Can't be sure if it actually did chase us, but in my memories it did.

Ah, the simple life and living off the fat off the land. Too much work!
