Was informed today by Joe as, he and Sue went to reserve the Mother-In-Laws cottage at the Basswood Resort, that they are all booked up for the month of June. So we were forced to change the date of the retreat to July 13-16, 2012 and reserved the Mother-In-law cottage area and Pavilion for that date.

Couldn't believe they booked up for the month of June in January. Was not this way last year by any means. Looks like they will be a hot spot this summer.

With as fast as they are booking up for the summer, we suggest that those wanting to attend the retreat this year and stay directly at Basswood Resort that you book your rooms/cottages... NOW. If for some reason you are unable to attend, you have up to 14 days before the reservation date to cancel your reservations and get your deposit back, minus a $10.00 cancellation fee.

Just heard about this tonight. I'm going to try to reserve the same type room we had last year. I don't know if anyone drove through the entire site, but they have some great cottages throughout the place. Just a thought. Now if someone would be willing to loan us a big truck, we can bring our camper! Only 7000 lbs. Those of you that didn't go last year, it's a nice place in a beautiful area. Just  don't forget the bug spray!

Hi Viper!

Before I make a reservation, are they aware of our group again? If so, will there be group rates?

Also, the cottages/cabins I mentioned below can be quite a walk to the main gathering place, ie: where the happening folk tend to hang out and catch bullfrogs (JOE) and such! I think we will bring our bikes for sure this time, no matter where we stay. Nice place to ride around.

We have not pre-reserved any units like we did last year as we ended up paying cancellation fees for each pre-reserved unit which was not taken 14 days prior to the retreat. Basswood Resort unfortunately doesn't offer group rates. Reservations are up to each participant to secure with Basswood Resort directly.

Reservations need to be made for the days of July 13-16, 2012

As I mentioned below the units have been going fast so we suggest participants make their reservations ASAP to ensure a unit at Basswood Resort for the retreat. If Basswood Resort books up for the weeked of the retreat, there are local hotels/motels very close by in Platte City were participants can stay and car pool to Basswood Resort for the retreat each days/evenings.

I hope everyone can make the retreat this year.  We had alot of fun last year.  Need to get ahold of basswood and book your rooms as soon as possible.  Like Viper said if you have to cancel you will only be out $10 for cancellation fee.  There are also 3 hotels in Platte City which is about 4 miles from basswood.  Hope to see you'all there.

Will they still have the training, now that the dates have changed?

Yes, we have rescheduled the date of training hosted by HCV Advocate for Saturday July 14, 2012. We are currently looking into an outside facility for holding the training as the outdoor pavilion at the Basswood Resort may get awfully hot at that time of year.

Once we have everything set for the training we will be providing registration information for attending the training course.

Bummer, I was clear on the first date but have a wedding to shoot on the second.  I thought it would be excellent for my daughter to come with me since she will be just graduated and starting a masters in clinical research in Sept.  I am disappointed but maybe next year.
