I went to the Dentist today in 7 years I have been open about having hep-c well today I finally had someone who was absolutely ignorant the dentist. She came in looked at my x rays and said I need 4 root canals before she put her hands in my mouth I told her  I had hep-c she asked what what my status was  active Then she tells me I should get it under control I told her I've had 3 tx I wanted to ask her if she had some magic pill the medical does not know about. She said I would need to go to a periodontist I asked her if she could pull them knowing my husband got a tooth pulled last month she then says you need to see a periodonst they can handle people like you. Thats when I got up pushed her aside and walked out I couldn't belive this woman I am so mad  :angry: :angry: :angry:

Wow, I'm sorry you had to go through that....people are just ignorant and she sounds like an AH to boot!  Don't blame you for being mad, but not all dentists or people are like that, mine's a gem and I told him from day one that I have HepC...he didn't even flinch!  Believe it or not my worst ignorant doctor experience was with a hepatologist.  He had the nerve to ask me what I expected him to do since I can't treat and he'd never put his reputation on the line by recommending someone with an extensive drug history for transplant!  Don't let her get to you Hope, some people just suck!

I too apologize for the ignorant masses. I think they are the exception rather than the rule. My dentist and periodontist didnt even flinch. Dentist actually said you ain't the worst I have.

Woah. My jaw dropped open and my heart sunk when I read this. Guess I'll never be ready to deal with ignorant people's comments. Unreal. Hope life-you did the right thing. Get up, walk out, that lady is a waste of your time to listen to and forget her.
 
And Cali, that Heptologist you mentioned is a real jerk for saying that. I don't know which of these 2 "professionals" got me madder.

Sweet Sue many things ran through my mind but at the end of all those thoughts the last one was me sitting on a metal bed in a cold cell and I'm just to old to do jail time any more.Of course I never have been in that city's jail it could have one of those plastic mats???
