Curly's Journey
« on: October 04, 2010, 03:02:16 PM »
Day 1

After been diagnosed back in March this year I started tx today. I want to use this to write a daily diary to share everything on my tx journey.

So after a sleepless night being so nervous about starting tx I went to hospital at lunch time to pick up my first injection. The nurse instructed me how to use the surringe. I counted till three and of you go I rammed the needle in my stomach. I have been told there may be symptoms after about 6 hours after my first injection. If there are symptoms it would be something like flue like symptoms and they advised me to take paracetamol, but hurray its 8 hours after and I am still fine. How good is that. Later on before I go to bed I have to start the ribavin. I wonder what that will be like.

Day 2

Thank you all for your reply. Hey jphays, yes you do reconise me and you know from where

Hurray Day 1 bites the dust. First injection done with no complications yesterday, but there is a downfall on the Riba stuff. Last night I took my first dose and the second one this morning and it wacked me. I always had a rule not to sleep during the day, but today my head was spinning out and I had no choice than to lay down this afternoon. Do those tablets make you so tired or is it of the injection yesterday. I wonder if that is going to happen every day now.

Hi there,

The nurse practitioner said most of my sides are from the Ribavirin.  It makes me feel the same way as you described.  Each injection and each week was different in the beginning.  Just keep drinking the water and rest when you can.

Day 3

I have spend most of the today in bed, but I had a go on mowing my lawn this afternoon, but I had to stop. I felt so exausted. My body feels so heavy. I have been hot and cold, had head aches and felt ill all together today. I hope it will be better tomorrow as I am told it usually gets easier after 3 days.

It feels so strange. My head does not feel like mine at all.

Curly,

I truly believe it is like an alien abduction.  For me it always got better as the days went on and I neared the next shot.  Just make sure you are drinking your water!!!  and let things go a bit, your immune system is being kicked in to overdrive, you need to take care of you.

Day 4

The last 3 days were pretty rough, but today hurray I am back to normal. Last night I slept like a baby and woke up very refreshed and got up and got ready for my pottery and art group. I have not done much, but at least I went there and enjoyed myself.

After the groups I gave somebody a lift home and when I got home I felt quite exausted and had a little afternoon nap.

Anyway I feel so much better and think I will have no problems to get through tx.
