Firerrhea
« on: July 29, 2011, 03:11:25 PM »
What is everyone using for firerrhea? It seems to be my only side at the moment, but man, it is like I have been eating habernero peppers. Prep H seems to help some, but is there anything else?

20% Lanocaine might work.

Prep H I thought did nothing.  What worked best for me was bathroom and use only moist wipes, followed by immediate washing of affected area, followed by Neosporin.  That helped the in between times.  During the actual act, prayer, crying, screaming, maybe morphine.

It gets better, and for some eases after a week.  I start week six and while better it still hasn't gone completely.

Adds new meaning to your morning ritual.

You smile all you want Mr! At least we don't have an anorectal syndrome named after us!!!

Ps- I smile now because I can, too. It went away pretty fast for me. I tried Phillips Milk of magnesia, mint flavored, actually, to"cool the burn" and then it went away. Not missing it.

Hang in there Greg.

I smile, I laugh.  But I do feel bad for you.  Like you said Doug, it does go away fairly quickly and in "hind" sight, since I got to SVR, it was well worth it.

And when you get there, I will take all the blame you want to assign.

Start 7th week of Invivek tomorrow and the firerrhea is subsiding or maybe I've become accustomed to it.   Keeping the area clean is very beneficial, I love those wipes!  It's that little bit of residual that seems to cause me the most problems :ahhh:

I didn't like Prep H cream or ointment - caused too much anal leakage.
The Prep H cool gel works wonders for me because it's made for external use.  Now granted, it'll burn like fire and I do the ditty wah twist for about 30 seconds but after that no more discomfort.

Also, initially I was consuming way too many milk products and the bowels were very restless, which caused more firerrhea.  I stick with peanut butter, doughnuts, anything solid and far less loose bowels for me.

The irritation does seem to lessen as treatment continues but I never  in a million years thought I would have such an intimate relationship with my own butthole.  Geez!

Off to eat a Krispy Kreme Chocolate Kreme filled doughnut -  23 grams of fat.

I use the Kimberly Clarke wipes.  I just reuse the original plastic container and buy the refills now.  Fairly inexpensive and I don't think they're unscented but they're not strong either and they have literally saved my a-s-s.

I used my steroid cream (Triamcinolone Acetonide) on it. Once last night and again this morning. It cleared it right up. But my Dr is closed and I wanted to know if this is acceptable use of this cream. All I know is it seems to be working, at least until the next bowel movement.

Going to have to buy those baby wipes tho

Heck BR as nothing seems to help you could have discussed it freely, we could give you the same valueless info we give now.

Trinity something you said makes me ask...

Does this turn anyone else's stool into a butt burning stain?  I can use 500 wipes and never get it all off.  Only soap and water removes all traces.  Orange stain I might add, not very nice color.

Darndest side effect I ever heard of.

And 100% BR's fault.
