Alice,

Where do you buy Almond butter?  Is in the grocery store?  I bought some Nutella but wow, that stuff is soo sweet.  Got some smoothie mix and switching to whole milk, no reduced fat. Bought a huge jar of peanut butter and will buy some Avocados later in the week.  I can't get all crazy about this fat stuff, ya know?  I'll do the best I can and let's hope it's enough.

i grind it myself at the grocery store. You can do peanuts too but I like almond butter way better. In the health food section, there are usually several brands of almond and other nut butter. If there's oil on top, then there's no shortening added-- don't get the kind with shortening.

Nutella... let's just call it what it is: chocolate hazelnut frosting! Once I'm on tx, I just do the best I can.

I just bought some almond butter at Target. I'm not an overachiever like Alice
I have to say, it is VERY WEIRD walking through the grocery store looking at labels and thinking "There's NOT ENOUGH FAT in this!!!!" Thinking about attempting to mix nutella in my oatmeal....I seem to remember liking chocolate swirls in my oatmeal as a kid....

I am definitely going to try the Almond butter, I am not sure yet whether to make it myself or buy it. I am thinking I will try my hand at making it. The good fats are so hard to come by and this is a good one. No Nutella for me. Dang this health kick.Alice, do you add oil to yours or make it without it? I am thinking of putting in a little Olive Oil myself for more of those "good" fats.

Ooops! I don't actually make almond butter...there's an electric grinder at the store. just check in the health food aisle. This one's easy!

about the oil: I was talking about the jars of almond butter or peanut butter-- the kind with shortening added doesn't have a layer of oil on the top that you stir up., or you can pour it off and use it for cooking or whatever.

Greg
Back in the old hippie days, from California through Colorado, the best snack was an avacado! Cut the top off and squeeze like an ice pop! Not much flavor, but a little salt and/ or lemon helps. as long as they're ripe the texture is good.

Trinity, I would (and probably will) go for broke and take them all at once. Why not?

Thinking twice about the 20 g meals/ snacks 3 times a day, it will probably be too much especially in the morning. Sharon's thought of Omega's sounds good. I just need to learn more about it.

Cobra? Hubby just lost his job and it will be $1100 per month. Should I apply for help from Sc hering Plough for assistance? I think the Incivek will be no problem. Help?

Susie,

I'd get the ball rolling with assistance for inf & riba as soon as possible.
I don't think Incivek will be a problem either -  Vertex will send at no-charge for those without insurance.  I was laid off in March and Coba is killing me but I had to take it because I had already planned on treating as soon as Telaprevir was released.  If this treatment follows suit like the last one I'll end up on Neupogen early and insurance is the only way I can afford it -  Neupogen sucks, I hated that stuff.

Best laid plans of mice and men hey?

Everything that Trinity said, including the sentiment toward my frienemy, Neupogen. I don't have insrance either. Don't wait on paying the COBRA if you need it cuz you'll have to pay from the date you were first eligible, which is usually the first day after your current insurance stops.. I have to come up with$6000 to bring my acct current. Ha!

Anyways, I have pdf copies of all the rx assitance apps for incivek, interferon, ribavirin, procrit and neupogen (and pristiq, imitrex, abilify, Neurontin.... :Ouch!:) pm me if you want them but call Vertex first. You'll get that stuff free if you don't have insurance-- they also cover a good chunk of your copay if you do. Just let me know.
