Oz would be very good. It seems his star is very bright right now.

I have watched Dr. Oz recently.  He covers a lot of things and his schtick seems to have audience participation.  It just seems like his format doesn't allow for deeper discussion in any subject.

But hey some info is better than none.  I will check out his website....

The Dr. Oz Show has touched on HCV and some of the information given was not helpful nor seemed accurate.  It was a while ago so I don't remember all the comments made but definitely recall being very disappointed with the outcome of the very brief talk.
Perhaps it's available in the archives?
Sorry for just jumping in here.

Great idea. I sent an email to Oprah about four years ago..never heard a word.
Diagnosed in 2005. Thirty weeks of treatment in 2006 and 48 weeks of treatment in 2007. Undetectable!

I tried Phil and Oprah a few years ago. I think the best way is to get support from a celebrity (cuz that's what's important to them), maybe Chris Lawford, but first try to get some action from the American Liver Foundation. I would like to think they have some advertising funds. A few well placed ads and a public service announcement would go a long way.

Don't know how often they have meetings to discuss new topics but haven't heard a word.  Me thinks it is time to send a nasty email....  I want to make sure I hear some more about his "Housewives" and how they are getting along or another update, etc.....

Not that I watch his show all that much but I think it is time to forget it all together.

Be well everyone!!   :sideways:

I'm very recently diagnosed but if it's one thing I do know about, it's wanting to get a message out to the community. The last place I would start is Dr. Phil, not only did his license get revoked but his shows mostly consist of relationship problems...a glorified Springer, if you will. I would start local- universities, publc access television, stuff like that. The internet is huge as well, as we all know. Sharing our stories, getting good infornation, and educating the community on HCV issues doesn't need Oprah, it needs organized and dedicated individuals with a good plan and motivation.

Lexie
You sound like i feel! I really thought that Chris Kennedy Lawford would be doing more towards awareness, not that he hasn't done a lot already. But it seems like he's leaning more towards addiction and recovery now. If we could just get him to do a public service announcement...

The ugly stepchild disease..... Sorry that they don't think the ratings would be high and true help of a discussion like this is not so important.  They should have listened to the woman who called me up the other day asking me more questions (this was her second call in a couple of months) about trials, tx, etc..   Her daughter has it and has a 7 month old baby and had it before the baby.  Of course that is when they found out she had it.   She is like a Mama Bear looking for an answer to help her and try to keep her hreealthy and hopefully off of SOC.....as it stands now.

Time to send him a nasty email.  Maybe he might like a "Jerry Springer" type message........  Whatever.... I am through with Dr. Phil and will boycott (agoraphobia here...but don't tell)  to everyone.....

Rant for the day......glad I got that over with..

Have some fun everyone spring seems to be here.

I can't remember if I mentioned it to you Ipaq, but I wrote to Oz last Fall and heard not a word.  I agree with Lexie, universities, online, public speakers with experience, and a good plan for getting people educated would be the best place to start.  Unfortunately many people don't want to know about what doesn't affect them, but if it's as epidemic as we know it to be, everyone's lives will be affected one way or another...soon.

Hey have you gotten your little guy yet?

Maybe we could get Naomi Judd to stump for us?
